Introduction

The Department of Radiology of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University was established in the 1914. It has been a comprehensive large-scale medical imaging department for medical treatment, teaching and research. During the past century, due to the collaborative efforts of generation by generation (Prof. Zhang Zunying, Hua Boxun, Tao Musheng, li Chuanfu, Ma Xiangxing), the Department of Radiology have gained outstanding clinical status in specialized areas including personnel training, instrument and equipment, medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research.

In 2005, the department became one of the first departments to establish the “Taishan Scholars” position in Shandong Province. In 2007, it became the key discipline of Shandong Province, and in 2009 it became the key construction discipline. The department is a master's degree, a doctoral degree granting point, and a national resident training base.

The department currently has 102 staff members, including 40 physicians. There are 2 doctoral tutors, 9 master tutors, 7 professors and 11 associate professors. 32 doctors with a doctorate and 12 masters. Many professors are members of the China Radiological Society, directors of the Shandong Radiological Society, and other deputy editors and editors of several core journals in China.

During recent 5 years, more than one hundred academic papers have been published on national and international core journals. There have been more than 20 national-level or province-level projects undertaken by the staff. The department has established long-term cooperative relationships with Cornell University and Hartford Hospital.
