The Department of Radiology of Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, which was established in the 1930's，is one of the first batch to develop master's program in China. To date, it also has the approved radiology doctoral degree program. Branch of the Chinese Medical Association's chairman of radiology unit set up in Department of Radiology of Xiangya Hospital, and Molecular Imaging Research Center, Central South University attached to it. The diagnosis examination rooms consist of 11 rooms for X-ray，6 rooms for CT，8 rooms for MR and 2 rooms for interventional therapy. And it has both outpatient rooms and inpatient ward for interventional therapy. The diagnosis facilities include MAGNETOM Prisma 3.0T, GE 750MR 3.0T, GE- Revolution CT, 320-row area detector CT, dual source 64 slices CT, et, al.Annual mean examination of x-ray is more than 290000 patients，CT examination is more than 120000 patients, for MR is more than 210000 patients, and intervention patients are more than 4000. The Department of Radiology attached great importance to education and scientific research as well. More than 100 scientific papers were published over the past five years, including more than 40 SCI papers. Over 50 research projects are sponsored at all levels, including 6 grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, which were awarded in Scientific and Technological Innovation of Hunan Province several times. It assumes the teaching tasks of imaging and nuclear medicine for both medical students and postgraduates and more than 130 postgraduates have been graduated. It gained more than 10 teaching papers and 6 books published, winning teaching awards at all levels. It is a comprehensive medical imaging center for both teaching and research.
